Following a 2003 competitive interview process, Dublin City Council commissioned PKA to prepare a masterplan for council-owned lands at Charlemont Street, Dublin 2.
PKA’s masterplan provides a vision for a total regeneration project, replacing the existing 1960s flats with a mixture of social, affordable and private housing, new community facilities, and complimentary commercial uses.
Following completion of the masterplan, with residents’ and elected members’ unanimous approval PKA were commissioned to advance the scheme design for a first phase of 70 social housing units on the part of the site bounded by Charlemont Street, Tom Kelly Road and the former St. Ultan’s Flats site.
Full planning approval was granted by the city council in summer 2008, and the project is currently being advanced through a competitive dialogue PPP tender process.
