PKA : URBANISM : Temple Bar Framework Plan
Temple Bar Framework Plan
The Temple Bar Framework Plan was designed and executed by Group 91 - a consortium of young Dublin architects, including Paul Keogh and Rachael Chidlow.
The plan proposed - radically at the time - a series of new pedestrian public spaces and routes through the area, and an architectural dialogue between contemporary architecture and the historic urban fabric which gives Temple Bar its unique identity.
In addition to our overall contribution to the framework plan, PKA’s projects included Meeting House Square, the Sycamore Street Mixed-use Building, the Gaiety School of Acting and The Eden Restaurant.
Temple Bar has been widely acknowledged as an urban design project of international significance, and for setting a new agenda for urban regeneration and architectural design in Dublin.
Group 91 was awarded the Union of International Architects’ Abercrombie Medal – one of international architecture’s most prestigious prizes – for its work on this landmark project.
