Gaiety School of Acting. Temple Bar
The Temple Bar mixed-use development forms one side of Meeting House Square, one of the flagship elements of the groundbreaking Temple Bar regeneration project.
The development comprises two elements: the Gaiety School of Acting and the Eden Restaurant occupy the main building fronting the square, and a second block - the studio building - forms the northern side of a new pedestrian route across Meeting House Square from Eustace Street to Sycamore Street.
In response to its context, the building has different expressions on each facade: a render-clad block with corner rooflight addresses the square, and the brick-faced elevation to Sycamore Street echoes the historic character of Temple Bar.
Temple Bar has been widely acknowledged as a project of international significance; and the mixed-use building has contributed to the area’s regeneration; the uses it houses - coupled with the square’s weekend market - have become major elements of Temple Bar’s vibrancy.
