PKA’s unique strength is the expertise and experience - and our established reputation for quality, innovation and skill - which we bring to the broad range of projects undertaken by the practice; in architecture, conservation, interiors and urban design.
The practice has a particular expertise in education, housing and urban design, with work at every scale, and numerous commendations and award-winning projects - in the Irish Council for Social Housing Awards; the RIAI Awards; the AAI Awards; the RIAI Silver Medal for Housing; the OPUS Architecture and Construction Awards; and the UIA Abercrombie Medal.
PKA also has a significant track record in public building projects, including libraries, courthouses, civic offices and musuems: both Dublin City Council and An Bord Pleanala‘s planning approval for the National Children’s Museum commended the plans for their architecture and design quality.
The early reputation of PKA was founded on a number of ground-breaking projects in the domestic and retail spheres; we continue to work in these areas, where our skill in combining contemporary design with tradition attracts clients in search of the uniqueness which we seek to achieve on every commission.
The practice offers a full range of architectural services including: site appraisals; brief development; team co-ordination; production drawings; schedules and specifications; tenders and contracts; inspecting work in progress; certification and settlement of accounts.
PKA has a successful record of planning applications for new buildings, alterations to existing buildings and protected structures, including planning appeals, and oral hearings to An Bord Pleanala.
Services provided also include fire safety certificates for building projects, and with RIAI accreditation in health & safety, we can act as project supervisor design process (PSDP) when required.
